On July 8, David Henry, having been interviewed by the pastor search committee two days earlier, preached for the first time at Calvary Baptist Church in Shawnee.
The service included special music by David’s wife, Dornette, who sang “The Anchor Holds” by Lawrence Chewning and Ray Boltz.
David preached his sermon “Unlimited Possibilities,” based on Ephesians 3:14-21.
Following the service, the Henry family, as well as at least nine visitors, dismissed to the fellowship hall while the membership voted in favor of extending a call to David to fill the CBC pastorate.
Following the vote, the church adjourned to the fellowship hall for lunch. On Wednesday, July 11, David formally accepted the call and he is scheduled to join the church in August.
