Walking in the Word
Open Doors
And a vision appeared to Paul in the night;
There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him,
saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.
– Acts 16:9 –
Paul and his companions were on their way to visit congregations where new believers were being discipled. This was a return visit to every city where they preached the word of the Lord and new Believers were added to growing congregations. (Acts 15:36) That was the plan.
However, this master plan was interrupted by the divine intervention with greater plans. A man of Macedonia appeared in a vision to Paul inviting them to their city. As a result of that vision, they decided to go into the city of Philippi in Macedonia.
Being confident that this was God’ directive for them, they immediately changed course and sailed toward Macedonia. When they arrived in the city, they met a small group of believers. This meeting opened the door into the hearts and lives of the Macedonians. People were being saved. Those possessed with demons were delivered. Revival broke out in Philippi!
Because of their powerful witness to the city, Paul and Silas experienced severe opposition and were thrown into prison. By now, Paul and his companions had come to expect the unexpected. It was no surprise to them that the prison experience turned out to be another open door of opportunity. Through a series of events, the jail and his household became believers.
Through these unexpected events, God open doors for many to come to faith in Jesus Christ. It all started because Paul and his companions were willing to go beyond their church walls to make disciples. This is an amazing story of how God guide his people in fulfilling his plan and purpose in people’s lives.
